Demo: KDS with PSS

This article demonstrates a scenario where Prep Status System (PSS) is used alongside a Kitchen Display System (KDS).

This workflow scenario could be used, e.g. in a fast-food bar, where orders are picked up by the customers when their order is complete.

Workflow

• The following is ordered in Domino on POS device:
  • 1 Caprese Salad
  • 1 Fish & Chips

• PrepTickets appears on the Salad Screen and Grill Screen:

• Chef working the Salad station selects the orange Preparing button on the PrepTicket and starts preparing the order:

• PrepStatus is updated on the Grill Screen, but the order is still not visible on Prep Screen, since Grill chef has not yet started preparing.

• Grill chef selects the orange Preparing button on the Grill Screen and starts preparing the order.

• The whole order is being prepared, so order status is changed to Preparing, and the order number is displayed on the Prep Screen as Preparing.

• Salad chef has prepared the order and selects the green Prepared button on the PrepTicket:

• PrepStatus is updated on the Grill Screen, but the order is still displayed as Preparing on Prep Screen, since Grill chef has not yet prepared the order.

• Grill chef has prepared the order and selects the green Prepared button on the PrepTicket:

• Order status is changed to Prepared, and the order number is displayed on the Prep Screen as Ready.

• Customer picks up the order and chef selects the Completed button:

• Order is removed from the screen, and the order number is no longer displayed on the Prep Screen.
